The C.A.L.M Approach™ to promoting positive behaviour is based on two key principles:

  1. All behaviour is communication
  2. There is no such thing as ‘naughty’

Young people that have had adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) are more likely to have difficulty regulating their BIG emotions. Whilst an educational setting cannot eradicate all the risk factors a child may have experienced or be experiencing, it can look to ensure the child has as many protective factors and positive experiences as possible, in order to create more positive feelings within them.
